Animal Health and Welfare Specialist

The Cage Wash Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the sanitation of all cage components and related equipment at Biomere. This individual will work under the direct guidance of the Animal Care Manager and general guidance of senior leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Process all animal cage components and related equipment through mechanical cage, bottle, rack or tunnel washers according to standard operating procedures and guidelines set forth in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
- Ensure proper sanitation using standard temperature assurance indicators and report any failures immediately to the Supervisor.
- Operate steam autoclaves to sterilize equipment as required, ensuring proper sterilization using cycle assurance indicators and recording results on the Autoclave Assurance Log.
- Responsible for daily maintenance of assigned areas, including general cleaning, surface sanitization, unscheduled and scheduled sanitizations.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Environmental Working Conditions:
• Potential exposure to disinfectants, chemicals, biologics, animal dander, and dust.
• Normal scientific laboratory conditions, may work with hazardous materials and unpleasant odors.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 0-1 years related work experience required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Skill Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exercises independent judgment to solve problems.
- Organized and able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates personal integrity and professionalism at all times.
- Focused on safety and security in the workplace.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Estimated Salary: $24 - $26 per hour, depending on experience.
