Occupational Therapist Intervention Specialist

At IWK Health Centre, we are seeking an Occupational Therapist Intervention Specialist to join our Provincial Preschool Autism Services team.
Job DescriptionThe Occupational Therapist Intervention Specialist will provide services to preschool-age children (ages 0-6) with autism and their families. The role involves facilitating a goal-setting process with families related to their identified needs for their child; providing assessment related to the goal(s); and developing, implementing, and coordinating intervention programs. The specialist will contribute to family education, work within various intervention frameworks, and provide direct supervision to program implementers.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate goal-setting processes with families related to their child's needs
- Provide assessments and develop intervention plans to address parent goals
- Work within interprofessional collaborative practice frameworks and independently with minimal supervision
- Develop and maintain internal/external partnerships
- Supervise program implementers in the implementation of interventions
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body in Nova Scotia
- Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver's license and reliable vehicle
- CPR certification within the last 12 months and First Aid certification
- Two years of recent experience working with children with autism (ages 0-6 years old) and their families
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in intervention for children with autism
- Excellent clinical care skills, presentation, facilitation, and communication skills, both verbal and written
We offer a competitive salary range of $37.3118 - $49.0499 per hour, depending on experience. In addition, you will receive comprehensive benefits, including health and dental coverage, retirement savings, and paid time off.
