Job Summary

This full-time position will work as part of our Driver Evaluation Program to provide consultation, assessment, treatment, and follow-up services for clients referred by the Assistive Technology Department. You will conduct clinical evaluations, including physical assessments, evaluation of visual and cognitive skills, and on-road driving evaluations, as appropriate. Additionally, you will provide counseling, education, and support to clients, families, and caregivers.

  • You will be working with a team of professionals who are dedicated to providing high-quality care to our patients.
  • This is a long-term assignment, approximately 9 months, working 75 hours bi-weekly.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A graduate degree from a Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) recognized School of Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS).
  • A minimum of 2 years' clinical practice experience.
  • BCLS certification.
  • The Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist Examination (CDRS) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in driver evaluation is an asset.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Clinical experience working with older adults is preferred.
  • Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and protection of clients' personal health information.
  • An understanding of related policies and best practices.
