BMO Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Strategist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for creating and implementing an integrated roadmap for all aspects of data governance.

This role involves developing, maintaining, and monitoring data governance policies and procedures. You will deploy technologies, ensure compliance with standards, and provide updates on policy changes. Additionally, you will ensure that data is secure, private, accurate, available, and usable. This includes providing interpretation of enterprise data governance guidelines and ensuring data strategy and management practices are aligned in support of business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data management principles and be able to create a culture where data is managed as a valuable corporate asset. They must also adhere to regulations around data compliance and reduce overall risk.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the creation and enforcement of policies for effective data management.
  • Formulate techniques for effective data management, quality data collection, and ensuring adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data.
  • Develop and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects.
  • Support the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards. Establish rules and procedures for data sharing.
  • Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades, etc.).
  • Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses.
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications.
Requirements:

This role requires a foundational level of proficiency in critical thinking, data fabric, data governance, data integrity, data privacy, data quality, ontology design, semantic layer, and systems thinking. At the intermediate level, the ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with data governance/catalog tools such as Informatica and other lineage or data quality tools. Proficiency in analytical programming languages like SAS, SQL, Excel, and Power BI experience is also an asset.

A typical requirement for this role is 4-6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience is also necessary.

Benefits:

BMO Financial Group offers a comprehensive compensation package, including a salary range of $60,000.00 - $111,700.00 and a pay type of salaried. The total compensation package may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks and rewards. Health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans are also offered.
