Research Technician II

Job Summary
The University Health Network is seeking a highly skilled Research Technician II to join our team at the Princess Margaret Genomics Centre. As a key member of our core facility, you will be responsible for performing genomics library preparation, quality control, and onboarding of samples from clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform genomics library preparation (RNA, whole genome, exome) using standardized operating procedures (SOPs)
- Conduct quality control of input material (RNA and DNA) and final products
- Onboard samples from clients and communicate with them regarding project status
- Produce RNA-seq libraries
- Produce whole genome and exome libraries
- Construct DNA epigenetic profiling (ATAC, methylation) libraries
- Perform input sample quality control using BioAnalyzer, Nanodrop, and fluorimetry
- Conduct final library quality control using BioAnalyzer
- Enter sample and library information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in genomics, molecular biology, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in a related field
- 1 year of experience with standard molecular biology laboratory techniques, including PCR reaction setup and purification, qPCR reaction assembly and data interpretation, nucleic acid quantification by spectrophotometry and fluorimetry
- Experience with LIMS is an asset
- Experience with Illumina DNA sequencing library construction workflows is an asset
- Ability to learn new techniques and technologies
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines
- Meticulous and detail-oriented
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment
