We are seeking a highly skilled Research Technician II to join our team at the Princess Margaret Genomics Centre. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for utilizing standardized laboratory techniques and procedures in genomics and molecular biology applications. Your expertise will be essential in performing experiments and analysis, communicating and maintaining records of experimental data.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize standardized laboratory techniques and procedures in genomics and molecular biology applications.
- Perform experiments and analysis; communicate and maintain records of experimental data.
- Work independently and accurately under deadlines, with a focus on single nucleus genomics utilizing Multiome, ATAC, and 3' and 5' profiling assays from 10x Genomics.
- At minimum, BSc in genomics, molecular biology or related discipline is required.
- At least 3 years of experience with standard molecular biology laboratory techniques is required, including PCR reaction set up and purification, nucleic acid quantification by spectrophotometry and fluorimetry, handling of single channel and multichannel pipettes, and manual counting of cells and nuclei via cytometer.
- A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies is required.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills are required.
- Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines is required.
- Meticulous and detail-oriented lab performance is required.
- Experience with 10x Genomics assays including Multiome, ATAC, 3' and 5' is an asset.
- Experience with nuclei extraction from fresh or frozen solid tissue and cells is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment is required.
- Experience with using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is an asset.
- Experience with Illumina DNA sequencing library construction workflows is an asset.
