Job Title: Research Technician II

Job Description

This is a temporary full-time position (1 year contract) at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, reporting to the Sr Scientist.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models in mice
  • Assess novel treatment strategies in PDX models
  • Evaluate molecular markers in patient tumor tissues
  • Tissue culture of various cell types/cancer cell lines
  • Perform basic molecular biology techniques such as RNA extractions, qRT-PCR, Western blots, etc.
  • Immunostaining of tumor tissues (immunihistochemistry or immunofluorescence)
  • Maintain organized and detailed lab notes
  • Analyze data (e.g. graphing data)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or similar field
  • At least 3 years of experience in basic techniques such as cell culture, PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blots
  • Previous experience with handling laboratory mice
  • Advanced mouse techniques such as surgical procedures (preferred)
  • Additional laboratory techniques such as immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy (preferred)
  • Flow cytometry experience (preferred)
  • Biostatistical data analysis and/or analysis of high throughput data such as RNAseq (preferred)
