Job Title: Research Technician II

Summary: Conduct laboratory techniques to develop novel biomarkers and treatments for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients.

Job Description

Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator and senior lab staff, the Research Technician II will carry out a range of laboratory techniques to develop novel biomarkers and treatments for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients.

  • Generating patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models in mice
  • Assessing novel treatment strategies in PDX models
  • Evaluating molecular markers in patient tumor tissues
  • Tissue culture of a range of cell types/cancer cell lines
  • Basic molecular biology techniques such as RNA extractions, qRT-PCR, Western blots, etc.
  • Immunostaining of tumor tissues (immunihistochemistry or immunofluorescence)
  • Maintenance of organized and detailed lab notes
  • Data analysis (e.g. graphing data)
Requirements
  • At minimum, Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or similar field
  • At minimum, three (3) years related and experience in basic techniques such as cell culture, PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blots
  • Previous experience with handling laboratory mice
  • Advanced mouse techniques such as surgical procedures
  • Additional laboratory techniques such as immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy
  • Flow cytometry experience
  • Biostatistical data analysis and/or analysis of high throughput data such as RNAseq
