We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Controls Specialist to join our team at ATS Automation. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting control programs for custom automation equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and program software specific to customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot controls and electrical equipment at customer facilities and make necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running status.
- Report and correct abnormal equipment conditions and inaccurate actions by customer staff.
- Work independently or as part of a team to ensure alignment of customer objectives with on-site work plans.
- Support developing operating and troubleshooting knowledge of the operations team.
- Review and suggest additional tools or equipment necessary to better operate or maintain customer equipment.
- Make recommendations to repair or replace only items that require repair or replacement.
- Travel to domestic and international customer locations for long and short-term support.
- Lead on-site teams and liaise with customers and ATS Project Managers.
- Coordinate third-party vendors and assist in resolving technical issues as required.
- Complete detailed Service Reports for services provided on a daily/weekly basis.
- Be available to be on call on a rotational basis.
- Communicate with internal and external customers to understand needs and support resources and solutions accordingly.
- Facilitate warranty/non-warranty claims with customers.
- Takes initiative, is innovative, and has a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced multitasking environments with plant engineers, external vendors, operators, and management to manage projects and assignments.
Requirements:
- A post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in programming/electrical engineering or equivalent.
- A minimum of four years of experience in a hands-on automation/control's environment.
- 3+ years of experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human/Machine Interfaces (HMI) using Allen Bradley or Siemens software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of customer and ATS management in a multi-disciplined engineering environment under pressure.
- Ability to quickly gain knowledge to readily troubleshoot systems.
