Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geochemistry Database Co-op to join our Orebody Knowledge (OBK) team at Teck Resources Limited. As a Geochemistry Database Co-op, you will play a critical role in assessing geochemical data and applying Quality Control (QC) principles to ensure that our foundational datasets are accurate and reliable.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Geology, Chemistry, or a related field and be able to build and nurture positive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds. You will be responsible for:

  • Applying robust Quality Control principles to analytical data generated by 3rd parties and internally
  • Using statistical techniques to measure accuracy and precision of analytical results
  • Assisting with the development and standardization of Teck's geochemical databases across all sites and operations
  • Engaging with and supporting projects across Teck to help meet their geochemical and analytical needs
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify patterns and anomalies in datasets
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, R, etc.) and common office efficiency tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies and platforms quickly and accurately
