We are seeking a highly skilled Co-op Engineer to join our team at Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd. This is a 12-month opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and develop your skills in AI, data storage, and software development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement data-driven AI embedding and workload-aware product data and metadata optimization algorithms.
  • Conduct system testing for high-availability and reliable data lake house solutions.
  • Develop problem determination solutions and drive root cause identification and resolution on computational storage environments.
  • Collaborate with a small, high-performance team using Python, C, and Java for development.
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of AI, database, big data, and storage systems, as well as operating system structures and transaction processing.
  • Good understanding of file system and database fundamentals, including transaction management, storage engine, MVCC, SQL optimization, recovery, and HA.
  • Proficiency in UNIX scripting and Python programming.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, Java, C/C++, and Python.
  • Excellent research capability and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Good analytics skills.
  • Ability to handle complex tasks by assessing issues and breaking down problems to reach an optimal solution.
What We Offer:

The target annual compensation for this role ranges from $56,000 to $79,000, depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.
