Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geochemistry Database Co-op to join our Orebody Knowledge (OBK) team. As a Geochemistry Database Co-op, you will be responsible for assessing geochemical data and applying accepted Quality Controls (QC) to ensure that our foundational datasets are fit for use.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in data analysis and data compilation, while gaining valuable insights into validated industry methodologies. You will work closely with our team to apply robust Quality Control principles on analytical data generated and reported by 3rd parties and internally.

Responsibilities
  • Apply Quality Control principles to ensure geochemical data meets our requirements and is fit for purpose
  • Use statistical techniques to measure accuracy and precision of analytical results
  • Assist with streamlining and standardizing our geochemical databases across all sites and operations
  • Engage with and support projects across Teck to help support their geochemical/analytical needs
  • Create and assess new ideas and technologies to improve our business operations
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience in Geology, Chemistry or related fields
  • Able to build and nurture positive working relationships with individuals of a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Familiarity with common statistical techniques for evaluating analytical data for accuracy and precision
  • Previous experience applying QC controls to analytical data or in a production environment is helpful
  • Familiarity with data management such as acQuire relational databases, Access, Datashed etc. are considered an asset
