About the Role

The Manager, International Payroll is responsible for all aspects of payroll processing, compliance, and recording of payroll costs in the general ledger for Four Seasons corporate payroll functions outside of Canada and the United States. This includes locations such as Dubai, London, Amsterdam, Singapore, Geneva, and Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Process payrolls for international locations, ensuring timely payment of all corporate and sales office payrolls.
  2. Responsible for global payroll workflows and processes to ensure accuracy of payment and data input from HRIS and other external payroll software or sources into the payroll processing systems.
  3. Review and approve payroll processing reports, spot check changes against source information, document process gaps and findings, and use this information to adjust and optimize the workflow and process.
  4. Ensure compliance with payroll and remittance guidelines set out by relevant regulatory bodies, such as HM Revenue (HMRC) in the UK, Inland Revenue Service (IRAS) in Singapore, and other national, provincial/state, and local employment and tax agencies.
  5. Process or liaise with third-party vendors on issuance of employee forms, including tax forms, and other required government filings.
  6. Support corporate finance function in annual internal and external audits.
Requirements
  1. Undergraduate degree with a focus in finance, accounting, human resources, international business, or business-related disciplines.
  2. 7+ years of experience in payroll administration and management, with at least 3+ years in a global or multi-country payroll management role. UK payroll experience is preferred.
  3. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation or working towards these designations.
  4. International payroll designation for one of the countries mentioned above.
  5. CPA designation or working towards CPA designation (optional).
  6. Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements in multiple countries, keeping abreast with payroll legislative updates, adhering to compliance requirements.
  7. Strong understanding of international payroll and expatriate tax implications, pertaining to international employee relocations.
  8. Strong understanding of multi-year compensation plans and relevant accounting implications for accrual vs payment purposes.
  9. Experience with payroll software and systems, such as ADP, Ceridian, Bayan, and Fourth; proficiency with HRIS and ERP systems is desirable.
  10. Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in finance, accounting, inclusive of payroll management positions. Experience in global mobility would be an asset.
  11. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency with vlookup, xlookup, pivot, and other Excel functionalities.
  12. Familiarity with Workday and Fourth payroll systems, or other similar HRIS and payroll systems.
  13. Familiarity with transactional accounting principles, including debits, credits, GL terms, balance sheet, and income statement accounts.
  14. Familiarity with online banking platforms, including creating and managing templates for ACH batch payments, international wires, pre-authorized debits, etc.
  15. Knowledge of another language associated with one or more of the international offices, preferred but not required.

  8. Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer service-focused environment.
  9. Demonstrated excellence in organization development, HR strategy, talent development, and conflict resolution.

This role will be a hybrid working model, requiring 3 days per week in the Four Seasons Corporate Office located at 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario.
