Job Overview

The Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Director to lead its finance department. This is a key role that will play a crucial part in the company's day-to-day administrative operations of the finance and accounting department.

The successful candidate will provide financial leadership, managing budgets and monitoring long-term strategic fiscal plans. They will be responsible for providing overall leadership, direction, and management of accounting, budgeting, cash flow, banking, and reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies and plans to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage the finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and tracking of financial performance.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide financial analysis and advice to senior management, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Represent the company in external meetings with lenders, investors, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance; or an MBA.
  • CPA or CMA designation is required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior financial role within a large organization.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • A strong understanding of financial systems, processes, and regulations.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations would be an asset.
  • A competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
