The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) is seeking a seasoned Strategic Communications Advisor to join our Advocacy, Communications and Marketing department.

About the Role

This key position will play a vital role in driving our communications strategy, working closely with business partners to advise on initiatives that strengthen the OMA's reputation and relationships with members, stakeholders, and the public. The successful candidate will possess exceptional writing skills, experience developing comprehensive communications plans, and the ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans to achieve OMA objectives;
  • Collaborate with senior management and staff to coordinate integrated communication initiatives;
  • Provide expert-level writing services for various audiences, including physicians, the media, and the general public;
  • Anticipate and respond to emerging issues, offering timely advice on managing the OMA's position and developing mitigation strategies;
  • Coach and train staff in other departments on effective communication practices;
  • Foster strong relationships within and outside the organization to drive stakeholder engagement and advocacy efforts;
Requirements
  • A minimum of 6-9 years of experience in senior communications roles, preferably in healthcare or a related field;
  • Proven track record of developing and executing robust communications strategies;
  • Expert-level proficiency in writing techniques, event planning, and presentation preparation;
  • Top-notch relationship-management and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presenting work to influence outcomes;
  • Post-secondary diploma or post-graduate certificate in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or Marketing, or a related discipline;
  • Professional accreditation from CPRS or IABC, optional;

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus benefits package, including group benefits, spending account, and robust wellness program.
