About the Role

The Government of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join its team in the Corporate Finance division. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for providing financial planning and analytical expertise to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support business decision-making.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to improve financial management practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective communication of financial information.

Requirements:

  • Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) and a membership in good standing.
  • A minimum of one (1) year recent, related experience in financial planning and analysis.
  • Recent, related experience must be within the last three (3) years and include the following:
    • Preparation of period end reports, including performing analysis and validation of data for these reports.
    • Providing advisory and/or financial analysis to business operations/management.
  • Preference may be given to those candidates with 1 or more of the following:
    • Experience working in the beverage alcohol industry.
    • Experience working in a supply chain or wholesale/retail distribution environment.
    • Experience working with large ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP).
    • Experience preparing cost and sales variance analysis.
