The Role

As a Student Recruiter Advisor at Douglas College, you will play a vital role in promoting programs and services to prospective students. Your primary responsibility will be to plan, maintain, and execute student domestic recruitment programs, ensuring that all stakeholders receive exceptional client-centered service. Your duties will include:

1. Promoting and Coordinating Recruitment Strategies
a. Design presentations with a strategic marketing approach to engage various audiences.
b. Present relevant information to small and large groups, highlighting the benefits of post-secondary education, Douglas College programs, and admission requirements.
c. Provide accurate information to students on possible post-secondary programs based on their interests.
d. Establish connections with public and independent secondary schools, government agencies, and community groups.
e. Develop and maintain positive relationships within the college community and other institutions.
f. Assess inquiries from secondary school counselors and teachers, providing them with appropriate information on programs and services at Douglas College.

2. Supervising Student Assistants and Co-Op Students
a. Identify, interview, and hire Student Assistant and Co-Op positions under the direction of the Supervisor and Manager.
b. Design and implement training experiences, acting as a professional mentor to student employees.
c. Coordinate scheduling and daily operations, monitoring absences and providing time sheet approval.
d. Supervise work performance, conducting periodic performance evaluations and exit interviews.

3. Supporting the Associate Student Recruiter Advisor
a. Provide onsite supervision for College events involving student activities.
b. Perform other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field from a recognized post-secondary educational institution, plus two years' related work experience.
  • A working knowledge of the B.C. post-secondary education system, including admission requirements and programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, including written and verbal fluency in English.
  • A working knowledge of training and/or job requirements for a wide range of academic, vocational, and technical careers.
  • General knowledge of financial services and processes, including entrance scholarships and Canada & BC Student Loan application processes.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM system.
  • A demonstrated ability to execute student recruiting strategies, including speaking effectively to small and large groups, interviewing prospective and existing students, and interacting with people of various backgrounds and cultures.
  • A valid B.C. driver's license and access to a motor vehicle is essential.
