About the Job

We are seeking a skilled and experienced carpenter to join our team at GTA Development Services Inc. As a carpenter, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including preparing estimates, reading blueprints, and building foundations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Prepare tenders and quotations
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Scheduling and co-ordinating work on sites
  • Surveying building locations and levels
  • Instructing apprentices
  • Supervising other workers
  • Estimating costs and materials
  • Maintaining, repairing and renovating residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Requirements
  • Hand tools experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Physical demands of the job include bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads, and working in a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Reliability, accuracy, and punctuality are essential
Work Environment

The work environment will be in a variety of settings including construction sites, residential areas, and industrial plants.

Language

The language of work will be English.
