Cybersecurity Compliance and Governance Specialist

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Compliance and Governance Specialist to join our Compliance team in Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive audits across the country to assess cybersecurity governance and compliance within our independent advisor practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to assigned branches and identify areas for improvement in cybersecurity governance
  • Document the current technology state of advisor branches and develop a security assessment roadmap
  • Establish and maintain relationships with advisors and branch staff to ensure compliance with our Acceptable Use Policy and Standards
  • Perform annual security assessments of Branch cybersecurity based on the CIS Critical Security Controls
  • Monitor and follow up on corrective action plans to ensure timely remediation
  • Conduct security audits on high-risk branches to enforce policy compliance
  • Provide management reporting on Branch cybersecurity maturity to CI's CISO, Enterprise Risk Management, and Business Management
  • Collaborate with CI's Information Security team to align with corporate policies and standards
  • Identify and report potential areas for risk improvement
  • Stay informed on industry trends, including emerging technologies and new threats

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in security-related positions, focusing on audit and risk management
  • Strong knowledge of technology and cybersecurity concepts
  • Practical experience applying standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISF)
  • A strong understanding of the Financial Services industry
  • General knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws (e.g., PIPEDA, GDPR)
  • University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, engineering, information security management, information technology management, risk management, or comparable professional education/training
  • Professional Designation such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), and/or other related designations
