About the Role:

The City of Yellowknife is seeking a highly skilled Community Engagement Advisor to join our Public Works team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with the community, providing essential information, and driving impactful communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interface with the public through various means of communication and engagement, focusing on public works operational tasks and capital project consideration.
  • Assist with the implementation of community outreach, communication policies, strategies, and campaigns to ensure the communication objectives of the department are met.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with government, community members, and special interest groups.
  • Provide creative and clear messaging to support the City's business objectives.

Requirements:

  • University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in community engagement within a government or corporate role.
  • Strong public speaking skills with the ability to relate effectively and connect with diverse groups.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite.

What We Offer:

  • Attractive annual salary range of $85,780.84 - $103,445.91.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.
