Job Title: Addictions Outreach Worker

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Addictions Outreach Worker to join our team at Home Base Yellowknife. As a key member of our outreach team, you will play a vital role in providing mobile support services to high-risk youth with substance abuse problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport youth to safe locations, ensuring their personal health and safety while in the community.
  • Work collaboratively with our team to maintain a positive and constructive work environment.
  • Engage with youth through open, communicative, and supportive interactions.
  • Supervise youth at all times, utilizing conflict resolution techniques to support those with complex needs.
  • Model positive social interaction and maintain a cooperative, friendly, and helpful attitude with youth.
  • Support youth under the influence, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with frontline staff as needed to ensure comprehensive support for youth.
  • Respect Home Base locations and their rules and regulations.
  • Engage with the community to promote supports for youth.
  • Communicate effectively with the Associate Director and/or Dorms Manager.
  • Complete necessary documentation and attend training opportunities as provided.

Requirements:

  • Class 5 Drivers' License with at least one year of driving experience.
  • Clear Driver's Abstract.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Vulnerable Sector check from the RCMP within the past six months.
  • HBYK Oath of confidentiality.
  • Discipline Agreement & Rules to Follow at HBYK.
  • Firm and established professional boundaries.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience working with persons impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, trauma, and various behavioral needs.
  • Knowledge of Northern First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures.
  • Ability to work various shift work, including days and nights.
