Director, Advancement + Alumni Relations Position

Emily Carr University of Art + Design is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to lead our advancement and alumni relations efforts.

About the Role:

The Director, Advancement + Alumni Relations will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fund development strategy, including evaluation of the university's giving programs. This self-driven individual will lead activities to raise major gifts from individuals, corporations, and family foundations in support of ongoing annual fundraising activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic fundraising plan that encompasses short- and long-term philanthropic goals.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of major gift donors, initiating, cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts over $10,000.
  • Provide leadership to the development and execution of a comprehensive annual plan for major gifts and fundraising activities.
  • Direct research, identification, cultivation, and tracking of individual major gift prospects.
  • Enhance the university's profile by developing and maintaining effective relationships with key individuals in the media, corporate community, government, and other educational institutions.
  • Facilitate alumni engagement through organizing and coordinating alumni meetings, reunions, and events.
  • Manage Advancement staff, including overseeing selection, mentoring, development, and performance management.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum five years' experience in progressively more responsible roles in fundraising at a management level.
  • Expertise in fundraising, prospect research, donor cultivation, and planned giving is an asset.
  • CFRE designation is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.

Estimated Salary Range: $101,172 - $134,896 CAD per year.
