Job Summary

The Payroll & HR Administrator will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all functions related to payroll. This role requires a high level of professionalism and confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the work performed. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll systems and be able to analyze data to ensure accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bi-weekly payroll processing for 380 employees in Canada
  • Ensuring current and accurate data is in place within the payroll systems, payroll grid, and Global HRIS
  • Processing various payroll transactions such as new hires, terminations, transfers, employee changes, adjustments, etc.
  • Checking hours and ensuring every employee who worked is paid
  • Previewing pay for all changes and submitting it
  • Verifying and checking pay reports
  • Liaising with the finance department regarding cash requirements, bank debits, JE, etc.
  • Overall management of accrued vacation, sick, etc.
  • Management of taxable benefits and applicable records
  • Training new managers and supervisors on payroll systems and providing them with information about company policies
  • Handling garnishments (family support & CRA)
  • Preparing various reports for management review at month-end
  • Supporting managers in preparing their payroll budgets
  • Verification of total salary and benefits budget versus department budgets reconciled for accuracy, omissions, and additions
  • Group Benefit Administration
  • Reviewing and processing invoices, ensuring they are accurate and processing new members, terminations, changes, etc.
  • Uploading monthly benefits invoices and preparing JE for posting
  • Updating and maintaining employee profiles on online systems for benefit providers
  • Accurate and timely handling of this information (including customer service issues)
  • Workers Compensation & EHT
  • Preparation of monthly and/or quarterly remittances (premium calculation) by using online services and preparing JE for posting
  • Completing necessary documents, employment letters, and other payroll records, as well as e-filing
  • Ongoing interaction and coordination with HR and Managers
