Job Title: General Manager

Trickster Theatre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to oversee the administrative and sales components of the company. Reporting to the Executive Director, the General Manager will be a key member of the management team, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Trickster Theatre website and social media activities to promote the company's brand and engage with stakeholders.
  • Oversee the residency program sales, including the booking of 50-60 residencies per year, and guide teachers through the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Artists in Residence grant applications.
  • Manage the sales and bookings for the day-long programs, and oversee the purchasing of office supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare, monitor, and revise the operating budget in conjunction with the Technical Coordinator and Executive Director.
  • Manage visa receipts and prepare items for the accountant, and ensure that all artists have up-to-date police reports.
  • Organize AGLC casinos, including applying for casino licenses, recruiting and scheduling volunteers, and ensuring volunteers are thanked appropriately.
  • Assist the Executive Director with grant applications and reports, and ensure applications and reports are submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Collect statistical information for CADAC, AFA, CADA, and grant activity reports, and update and maintain the Salesforce database and Google Drive file structure.
  • Manage office correspondences, attend board meetings as required, and represent the company in the community at events and performances.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years management experience, with a strong history of managing multiple projects at the same time.
  • Experience working with the Canadian Arts funding ecosystem, and knowledge of theatre production and/or the professional performing arts touring scene.
  • Proven leadership capability, with a successful track record in fiscal management, and self-motivation, initiative, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in marketing and sales, with computer skills including Google Suite, Salesforce, and website management.
  • Strong interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills, with the ability to work some flexible hours.
