Job Summary:

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Assistant Registrar, Graduate Programs. This is a full-time, continuing appointment with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional support to graduate students, faculty, and staff by advising on academic and financial matters, and providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background.
  • Conduct detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities, and develop strategies to improve student success.
  • Coordinate activities related to the preparation of annual graduate funding packages, and ensure timely and accurate processing of student awards and scholarships.
  • Promote graduate programs at recruitment events, and develop and implement effective marketing strategies to attract top talent.
  • Analyze, score, and rank incoming applications, and provide detailed information regarding admission requirements to prospective students and applicants.
  • Prepare detailed explanations of admissions decisions, and provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Prepare draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected, and design and optimize databases to improve data management and analysis.
  • Direct the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees, and provide guidance and support to ensure effective team performance.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of related experience in an academic student services environment in a university setting at the graduate studies level.
  • Experience applying and interpreting related academic policies and procedures.
  • Experience in successfully planning and coordinating events, and developing effective marketing strategies.
  • Experience working in student services and providing support to students, and developing strong relationships with faculty and staff.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, and excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship building skills, and ability to interact with faculty, students, and professional colleagues in a tactful, professional, and diplomatic manner.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
