About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. In this role, you will provide clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental illness and/or substance use or gambling disorder.

As a Community Outreach Worker, you will work in both clinic and community settings, providing a range of services including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. You will play a key role in navigation, advocacy, and the coordination of resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of principles of harm reduction, community development, and psychosocial rehabilitation. You will serve as a resource to colleagues, clients, and family members, creating and enriching linkages with organizations and agencies within your community.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and one year of post-BSW clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions. You must be registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulatory body.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent assessment skills, the ability to implement an evidence-based plan of care, and a working knowledge of the DSM. You will also have experience in offering brief, supportive intervention strategies focusing on harm reduction and recovery, as well as the ability to navigate and de-escalate situations and offer crisis support.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent part-time position, 60% FTE, 45 hours biweekly. The hourly rate is $33.27 - $42.01.
