**Dartmouth South Community Outreach Navigator**

**Casual Position**: 10-15 Hours per week, $25/hr**Closing date**: October 21, 2024

The MLA office Community Outreach Worker’s primary role is to engage with the Dartmouth South community to understand constituents' needs, concerns, and how the MLA can best support them. This role involves engaging with constituents, letting them know about the MLA office, and communicating key issues and feedback. The position also includes assisting with intake of casework, answering phone calls, and completing administrative duties.

**Qualifications**:

- Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple cases and tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including one-on-one interactions with constituents.
- Familiarity with the roles and responsibilities of different levels of government, particularly Provincial jurisdiction.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Community Engagement**:

- Conduct outreach to gather feedback from constituents on key local issues and priorities.
- Communicate how the Dartmouth South MLA can address the community’s needs and advocate on their behalf.
- **Constituent Case Intake & Support**:

- Manage intake of constituency casework, including obtaining necessary permissions from constituents to investigate on their behalf.
- Conduct effective interviews to gather facts and details on the issues faced by constituents.
- Maintain organized, up-to-date, and confidential casework files.
- **Administrative Tasks**:

- Answer phone calls and assist with general inquiries.
- Digitize paper files, organize correspondence, and create certificates of appreciation.
- Research social programs and services available in Dartmouth South to better assist constituents.

**Skills**:

- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication, with the ability to engage comfortably in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Strong written communication skills for documenting cases and preparing reports.
- Ability to listen with empathy, compassion, and without judgment, especially when working with diverse populations.

**Experience**:

- High school degree or equivalent.
- 2 years of post-secondary education in social sciences, social work, or related experience.
