Community Outreach Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Outreach Coordinator to join our team at the SchoolsPlus Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to connect families and community groups with schools, with the ultimate goal of improving student success.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain relationships with community groups, schools, and families to facilitate support and services to students.
- Develop and implement proactive approaches to community outreach and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with Principals, teachers, and other staff to ensure effective connections and communication between schools, families, and community agencies.
- Report to a designated SchoolsPlus Facilitator and work within an established accountability framework.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or equivalent through a combination of experience and a relevant Diploma/Certificate.
- Minimum three years of experience working with students and their families.
- Direct knowledge and experience of the communities served is an asset.
- Experience with collaborative practices and involvement in community development initiatives, community boards, and/or hubs is an asset.
- Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and reliable vehicle.
This is a 12-month per year position with a starting annual salary of $2,003.31 paid every two weeks. The annual salary is based on a six-step scale with step increases occurring annually.
Seven hours per day, Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours per week.
Community Outreach Workers initially receive three weeks of vacation per year, with 10 vacation days for the first year pro-rated based on start date.
