About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director of Care to join our dynamic team at Kawartha Lakes. As a key member of our Human Services Department, you will play a vital role in supporting the management of our nursing department and resident care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the nursing team, ensuring clear lines of authority and communication.
  • Perform nursing duties to maintain clinical excellence in our care community.
  • Develop and implement clinical care processes to ensure individualized care plans for residents.
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of required clinical programs, such as Falls Prevention, Skin and Wound Care, Continence Care, and Pain Management.
  • Participate in committees as required, contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Model and promote a culture of positive customer service in all aspects of care.
  • Coordinate and ensure the effective implementation of care processes for the RAI MDS Program, Nursing Rehab, and Restorative Care Program.
  • Lead recruitment, retention, and employee labour relations efforts for Personal Support Workers and Care Support Assistants.
  • Identify nursing department learning needs and provide education to support clinical care program delivery and capacity building.
  • Provide regular feedback to team members on performance and conduct continuous performance evaluations.
  • Support home area/neighbourhood leaders with complex care issues or concerns to promote positive resident outcomes.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, and evaluating staffing patterns in accordance with the nursing budget and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Contribute to the development of job routines for all nursing personnel.
  • Ensure clinical care is delivered in a resident-centred manner, promoting evidence-based best practice.
  • Work with the Director of Care to ensure nursing practice aligns with the College of Nurses and the organization's vision, mission, and values.
  • Promote an effective move-in and move-out process.
  • Participate in Resident and Interdisciplinary Team Conferences as required.
  • Work in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Monitor procurement and supply control procedures to ensure timely availability of resources within the nursing department.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the provincial College of Nurses.
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or equivalent post-diploma education preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in clinical nursing in seniors' care, including geriatric, long-term care, rehabilitation, or chronic care settings.
  • Knowledge of provincial Long Term Care Act & Regulations preferred.
Competencies and Skills
  • Excellent proficiency with WORD, email, internet use, and computerized documentation.
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Willingness to upgrade and maintain personal and educational qualifications as required by the changing demands of the job.
