The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Compensation Manager to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods. As a key member of our Total Rewards team, you will play a critical role in shaping our organization's compensation and recognition landscape.

Reporting directly to the Director of Total Rewards, you will be responsible for creating and implementing compelling executive and employee compensation strategies. This includes managing our annual executive compensation programs, including our long-term equity incentive plan, as well as overseeing external benchmarking initiatives and our job evaluation process to ensure plan and program competitiveness.

You will also act as a trusted advisor to business leaders and HR colleagues, offering sage counsel on all matters pertaining to compensation. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing meticulous compensation data reporting for proxy disclosures and senior leaders, as well as maintaining a thorough understanding of compensation and recognition program design, practices, policies, and competitive industry trends.

As a Compensation Manager, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our HR, Payroll, Finance, and IS teams to administer and maintain accurate compensation data in HRIS and/or other tools/applications. You will also be responsible for overseeing and auditing the ongoing execution of compensation and recognition programs according to company policies and statutory compliance, including regular reporting to finance and audit teams.

We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in compensation and benefits. You will have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, and be on the path towards CCP or CHRP designation if not already acquired. You will also have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in Compensation, with a minimum of 2 years at the managerial level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement compensation strategies to attract, retain, and motivate top talent
  • Manage annual executive compensation programs, including long-term equity incentive plans
  • Oversee external benchmarking initiatives and job evaluation process to ensure plan and program competitiveness
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders and HR colleagues on compensation matters
  • Prepare compensation data reporting for proxy disclosures and senior leaders
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of compensation and recognition program design, practices, policies, and competitive industry trends
  • Work closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IS teams to administer and maintain accurate compensation data
  • Oversee and audit the ongoing execution of compensation and recognition programs according to company policies and statutory compliance
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
  • On the path towards CCP or CHRP designation if not already acquired
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Compensation, with a minimum of 2 years at the managerial level
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills
