Sustainability Data Insights Specialist

At Dream, we're committed to driving sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint. As a Sustainability Data Insights Specialist, you'll play a key role in helping us achieve our goals. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with departments across the organization to gather sustainability data from various sources.
  • Managing and maintaining large amounts of sustainability data, ensuring it's clean, consistent, and of high quality.
  • Consolidating data and developing reports to address internal and external sustainability reporting requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve data collection and management processes, including the development of dashboards using Power BI.
  • Calculating and analyzing a wide range of building sustainability performance metrics.
  • Acting as a project liaison with third-party data managers to optimize data collection, controls, and integrity of reports.
  • Supporting annual data assurance processes with external auditors.
  • Submitting data to relevant authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and directives in Canada and Europe.
  • Researching, analyzing, and providing business modeling for sustainability initiatives.
  • Engaging internal partners to drive sustainability objectives and priorities.
  • Providing internal advisory services on emerging sustainability issues and opportunities.
  • Supporting submissions to third-party ESG rating agencies.
  • Contributing to the annual Sustainability Report and other publicly issued reports.
  • Leading and conducting periodic environmental scans of emerging climate change, environmental, social, and governance issues.
  • Contributing to and leading GRESB submissions and analysis.
  • Supporting building certification initiatives.
  • Supporting Dream's Net Zero by 2035 Action Plan and leading net zero reporting.

What experience do you have?

We're looking for a candidate with 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Environmental, Sustainability, ESG, or Impact sectors. You should have high proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management, including Power BI. Some programming, SQL, or database management experience is an asset. Commercial real estate/property management industry experience is preferred. You should also have a basic understanding of emissions reporting, GRI, TCFD, and SASB. Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups across multiple locations is essential. Ability to multi-task and manage priorities to meet deadlines is also required. Strong quantitative/analytical skills, including data analysis and identifying gaps and trends in data, are necessary. Global experience is an asset. Experience in financial analysis is also an asset. Strategic thinking and agile problem-solving skills are essential. A dedication to providing exceptional customer service, adapting to change, and delivering successful results within a given time frame are also required. A team-oriented approach to meeting goals and objectives, a willingness to take responsibility, and a strong attention to detail are also essential. A strong communicator who can effectively address both small and large groups with empathy, credibility, and trust is required.
