Job Summary

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Royal Bank of Canada, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability and performance of our web content management system. You will work closely with our IDEA team to develop, support, and maintain our RBC Web Content Management System Enterprise platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure solutions that interface with various technologies across the enterprise.
  • Work with our observability stack and write automation code using Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Partner with our automation development team to implement application self-healing solutions.
  • Provide off-hours support as needed for a reasonable period after engagement.
  • Lead major portions of large or medium complex IT projects and lead small projects autonomously.
  • Develop and review system architecture, including relevant use cases.
  • Manage and tune technology to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.
  • Work on application integration with DevOps pipelines.
  • Interface with multiple levels of the organization and aspects of a team to resolve system engineering issues, vulnerabilities, and actions.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or similar university program.
  • Production application support/maintenance experience with an understanding of application logging practices.
  • Strong understanding of Networking, Web protocol, System Management experience, and authentication mechanisms such as Kerberos, Azure, TLS/SSL.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and process improvement methodologies and DevOps concepts, version control, and continuous integration concepts.
  • Strong understanding of Webserver technologies – Apache and Apache TomCat.
  • 3+ years practical technical experience.
  • Self-driven, ability to quickly learn new technologies, and demonstrated track record of rapid iteration and deliverables within aggressive timeframes.
