Director, Financial Accounting and Business Support

Cedar Leaf Capital, a subsidiary of Scotiabank, is seeking a highly skilled Director, Financial Accounting and Business Support to join their team. As a key member of the organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the firm's financial results, while also contributing to the development of strategic plans and financial models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective leadership and management of all aspects of the firm's audited regulatory and statutory financial statements and tax-related filings and audits.
- Contribute to the development of strategic plans and financial models that reflect different scenarios and can be used in long-term planning.
- Implement and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure timely, complete, and accurate regulatory compliance financial records.
- Stay current about new and emerging regulations and best practices that may necessitate an update to Cedar Leaf's Financial Operations policies and procedures.
- Provide professional advice and quality and timely information to support the Cedar Leaf trading desk with front office initiatives and business strategies.
Requirements:
- Strong technical skills and extensive knowledge of the investment business, particularly in a debt capital raising capacity.
- Trade life-cycle experience, including monitoring the settlement of trades and managing the deployment of a Third-party Carrying Broker platform.
- Ability to manage banking operations (experience in cash management).
- Strong leadership, motivational and people skills for interactions with Executive Management and various stakeholders.
- A good understanding of Financial Accounting and CRA tax requirements.
