Job Title: Registered Nurse - Crisis Intervention Specialist

Medavie Health Services is a leading provider of primary health care solutions, emergency medical services, and community paramedicine programs across Canada. We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Mobile Mental Health Team in Prince Edward Island.

Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a crisis intervention setting. As a Registered Nurse on our Mobile Mental Health Team, you will respond to individuals in crisis, providing de-escalation, mental health and risk assessments, and coordination of care and supports in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to crisis calls across the province with Mobile Mental Health Team members
  • De-escalate situations, gather information from clients and collateral sources, and make independent judgments to determine the best course of action
  • Conduct mental health and risk assessments to facilitate case formulation, treatment planning, and coordination of care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including law enforcement and EMS, to provide comprehensive care
  • Develop and implement care plans, ensuring evidence-based practices are embedded into client care
  • Provide education and training to clients, families, and community partners on mental health and crisis intervention
Requirements:
  • Baccalaureate degree or diploma in nursing and current registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island
  • Experience working in mental health settings, including crisis intervention and community paramedicine
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of the DSM-5, Mental Health Act, and crisis intervention principles
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
