Job Title: Registered Nurse - Crisis Intervention Specialist

Medavie Health Services is a leading provider of primary health care solutions, emergency medical services, and community paramedicine programs across Canada. We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Mobile Mental Health Team in Prince Edward Island.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with a strong background in crisis intervention and mental health to join our team. As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will respond to individuals in crisis, providing de-escalation, mental health and risk assessments, and coordination of care and supports in the community. You will work collaboratively with other interdisciplinary service providers to provide comprehensive care to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to crisis calls across the province with Mobile Mental Health Team members
  • De-escalate situations and provide mental health and risk assessments
  • Collaborate with other service providers to provide comprehensive care
  • Conduct mental health and risk assessments to facilitate case formulation and treatment planning
  • Provide mental health and addictions treatment incorporating client, family, and other professionals' information
  • Utilize and apply extensive knowledge of principles of prevention, case management, and psycho-social rehabilitation
Requirements:
  • Baccalaureate degree or diploma in nursing and current registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island
  • Experience in crisis intervention and mental health, preferably in a community setting
  • Ability to work effectively as a reliable member of a team and adapt to a changing environment
  • Knowledge of the DSM-5, Mental Health Act, and crisis intervention in a mental health setting
