Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide clinical leadership and expertise in the designated clinical area, utilizing evidence-informed practice to improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and expertise in the designated clinical area, utilizing evidence-informed practice to improve patient outcomes.
- Role model direct patient care skills to staff and students, and provide education at the point of care to ensure optimal care.
- Collaborate with the inter-professional team to develop and support individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes of interventions.
- Develop and revise education tools and plans based on identified learner needs, chart audits, and patient outcomes.
- Deliver learner-centered education to individuals or groups of staff and patient/families, and evaluate the effectiveness of education programs.
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, and contribute to the review, development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-informed clinical decision support tools/policies.
Qualifications
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Three years of recent related clinical experience in the designated clinical specialty area, including one year of education and/or leadership experience.
- Completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes, as required.
Skills and Abilities
- Clinical proficiency/expertise in the designated clinical nursing area.
- Ability to role model direct care skills, coach, mentor, and teach nursing skills that are compliant with current standards of practice and that ensure quality of care.
- Ability to apply educational theories and evidence to teaching practices.
- Ability to identify learning needs of individual or groups of staff.
- Ability to foster effective teaching and learning relationships.
- Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders in preparing appropriate learner environments.
- Ability to develop and utilize appropriate practice assessment tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently in an organized and self-directed manner.
- Ability to problem-solve and effectively deal with conflict situations.
- Ability to conceptualize teaching from a unit to regional focus.
- Knowledge of research processes and methodology.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
