About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to fill the position of RN Clinical Mentor. This role requires a dynamic and compassionate individual who is committed to delivering exceptional patient care and leading by example in a fast-paced healthcare environment.



Key Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with interprofessional teams to establish priorities for nurse and team learning, incorporating assessments of individual and team learning needs through discussions with team members and consultation with clinical educators.

  • Facilitate staff learning and development by role modeling best practice nursing skills and related competencies, promoting skill development and clinical decision-making, and providing feedback to ensure care is provided according to program standards, standards of practice, and clinical practice guidelines.

  • Provide clinical guidance, support, and on-the-job learning experiences for nurses in the application of nursing processes and practice standards, observing and evaluating clinical practice to identify training and development opportunities.

  • Contribute to the determination of skill development priorities for staff, supporting preceptors/preceptees and mentors/mentees using teaching and learning principles as required.

  • Lead by example, demonstrating knowledge, skills, and experience, and providing continuous mentoring and coaching to facilitate performance improvement, and assist nursing staff with critical thinking when clients/patients experience variances to clinical guidelines/pathways.



Requirements


  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

  • Three (3) years of Acute, Community Health, or Long Term Care nursing practice relevant to the designated clinical area, including experience mentoring nursing staff and leadership training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle may be required.
