Job Summary:

EllisDon is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Buildings Group, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for our employees and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct safety orientation and job site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Monitor employees and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety procedures and escalate issues to resolution.
  • Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and take necessary measures to correct them.
  • Review subcontractors' pre-construction safety submittals and weekly safety reports.
  • Organize and conduct training programs, including WHMIS, Fall Protection, and CPR/First Aid.
  • Compile and maintain project health and safety statistics.
  • Create and maintain a safety-first culture among site staff.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of safety experience on institutional, commercial, and civil construction projects.
  • Valid OFA L3 certificate or ability to obtain.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate is an asset.
  • Construction Safety Coordinator Gold Seal Certification or CRSP Designation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
  • Advanced First Aid is considered an asset.
