Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining effective health and safety policies and procedures across our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Budget Management: Plan and control budget and expenditures, ensuring that all costs are aligned with our organizational objectives.
  • Contract Management: Manage contracts effectively, ensuring that all terms and conditions are met and that our organization's interests are protected.
  • Enforcement Procedures: Initiate enforcement procedures to fine or close an establishment as necessary, always following due process and regulatory requirements.
  • Employee Data Analysis: Oversee the analysis of employee data and information, identifying trends and areas for improvement in our health and safety performance.
  • Communication Strategies: Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage employees and promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Health and Safety Plans: Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans, ensuring that all relevant risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all health and safety regulations are followed, and that our organization remains compliant with relevant laws and standards.
  • Report Preparation: Prepare regular reports on health and safety performance, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
  • Senior Management Advice: Provide expert advice to senior management on health and safety matters, informing strategic decisions and driving business success.
  • Employee Support: Respond to employee questions and complaints, providing timely and effective support to resolve any issues.
  • Liaison: Liaise with management, union officials, and HR consultants to ensure effective communication and collaboration on health and safety matters.
  • Staff Consultation and Grievance Procedures: Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures, ensuring that all employees have a voice and can raise concerns without fear of reprisal.
  • Payroll Administration: Oversee payroll administration, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Recruitment and Hiring: Recruit and hire staff, selecting candidates who share our organization's values and commitment to health and safety excellence.
  • Performance Reviews: Conduct regular performance reviews, assessing individual performance and identifying opportunities for growth and development.
  • Work Environment Evaluation: Evaluate work environments, programs, and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
  • Operations Management: Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate daily operations, ensuring that all activities are conducted safely and efficiently.
Requirements
  • Criminal Record Check: Possess a clean criminal record, as required by law.
  • Physical Capabilities: Possess the ability to work independently, manage a fast-paced environment, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to Detail: Possess strong attention to detail, including hand-eye coordination, color vision, and sound discrimination.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to sit for extended periods, stand for extended periods, and combine sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day.
  • Tools and Equipment: Possess steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, earplugs, and a cellular phone.
  • Personal Suitability: Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, flexibility, judgment, organization, and teamwork.
  • Experience: Possess 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Green Job: Involves duties and responsibilities that lead to positive environmental outcomes.
Compensation

We offer a competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
