Estimator for Construction Projects

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Summa Architectural & Structural Metal Inc. as a key member of our estimating department.
Job Description:The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs for various construction projects. This will involve operating CADD and other computer software systems, preparing estimates for general expenses and overheads, and providing economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience in estimating for architectural and structural metal projects, with a strong understanding of quantity take-off procedures and tendering procedures. They will also be able to advise on cost monitoring and reporting systems, and prepare and maintain directories of supplies and trade contractors.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, able to liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. They will also be able to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.
Requirements:- Education: College/CEGEP
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
- or equivalent experience
- Estimating
- Quantity surveying
- Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
- Operate CADD and other computer software systems
- Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads
- Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects
- Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bids forms
- Utilize quantity take-off procedures
- Advise on tendering procedures
- Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems
- Monitor and adjust contract expenditures
- Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors
- Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
