Game Audio Innovation Specialist

As a key member of our Technical Art Team, you will be at the forefront of innovation, combining creativity with technical expertise to deliver exceptional audio experiences for our players.
We invest in future technologies, shared tooling, and production workflows that enable our teams to bring their unique perspectives and expertise to work every day. This role offers a 12-month contract opportunity with the possibility of long-term employment, working hybrid 3 days/onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) at EA Vancouver.
The Challenge Ahead
As an Audio Technical Artist with Sports Tech, your focus is on creating shareable, future-facing tech and data, quality artist workflows, and collaborating with game teams, central staff, and the community at large on the future of audio for the organization. You are a key component of the local and global audio communities, identifying risks, sharing solutions, seeking help internally and externally, and contributing with a positive, inclusive attitude.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with game and central teams on building company-spanning audio standards, pipelines, and shared systems.
- Build audio runtime systems with visual programming and scripting languages.
- Support artists by understanding their needs and developing/improving their workflows.
- Optimize and debug runtime audio data to work and fit within modern console limitations.
- Document and communicate system designs, data structures, best practices, and project successes and risks to partner team members and the greater EA community.
Qualifications
- Successfully shipped at least one AAA game title in a technical audio role (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with both visual programming and text-based scripting/coding languages, with professional experience in at least one language.
- Significant experience debugging workflows, pipelines, or runtime systems or assets.
- Significant experience in content/data management.
- Experience developing pipelines and workflows.
- Experience in sound design, audio editing, acoustics, music production, or any audio post-production are a benefit.
- Creative mindset with focus on how to improve product quality and team productivity.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated salary for this position is $103,000 annually, based on the base salary ranges for British Columbia. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
