We are seeking an experienced HR Specialist to join our team in Ottawa, ON. This is a challenging role that requires strong HR skills and experience working with diverse groups.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and integrating HR processes within the faculty/service framework, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices, aligning local HR practices with faculty/service objectives, and providing expert advice on employee relations matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • HR Process Development: Develop and integrate HR processes within the faculty/service framework to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • HR Knowledge Management: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices to provide guidance and support to employees and management.
  • Employee Relations: Provide expert advice on employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and recommend actions for disciplinary and performance issues.
  • Grievance Resolution: Participate in grievance resolution and collective bargaining processes to ensure fair and timely resolutions.
  • New Employee Orientation: Facilitate new employee orientation sessions to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Training and Development: Assess training needs and collaborate on development plans to enhance employee performance and growth.

Requirements:

  • Education: Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in HR or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of experience in HR, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Proficiency in staffing, classification, employee relations, or organizational development, familiarity with HR laws and practices, including collective agreements, strong computer skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, initiative, leadership, and sound judgment, excellent organizational and communication skills, discretion and tact in handling confidential information, bilingual proficiency in French and English (spoken and written).
