About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Technologist to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As an Electrical Technologist - Infrastructure Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the Real Estate and Infrastructure Management Branch by providing technical expertise in electrical systems design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide input to the Capital Planning process to ensure alignment with electrical systems design and implementation standards.
  • Assess existing infrastructure to identify areas for improvement and develop scopes for approved projects.
  • Participate in the development of design services within the capacity of the team, coordinating with all disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide technical support to the project team during the tender, award, execution, and close-out phases of projects.
  • Contribute to the development of corporate standards that support decision-making and influence portfolio investment.
Requirements
  • Completed an approved program as an Electrical Technician or an Electrical Engineering Technologist.
  • Eight (8) years of related experience in electrical systems design and implementation.
  • Certified Electrician, Electrical Technician, or Technologist.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and approaches applied across a broad spectrum of infrastructure.
  • Superior skills in Electrical Design and relevant experience in using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Experience reviewing construction documents prepared by others to ensure alignment with intended scope, clarity, and consistency with established standards.
  • Project support experience, including shop submittal reviews, general conformance reviews on site, and supporting project close-out.
  • Significant experience working with skilled Trades People, Construction Supervisors, Engineers, Design Consultants, and Architects.

Working Conditions

This position includes a combination of office and field work, with normal hazards associated with construction sites and working near heavy equipment. Some travel and associated overtime may be expected.
