EFP Engineering was founded to meet clients need for a mechanical and electrical design team who is responsive and engages all stakeholders to generate a coordinated and cost-efficient design, that is both technically and practically sound. Providing detailed design, construction administration and engineering analysis services, EFP Engineering has worked on many exciting multi-residential and commercial builds around the Halifax community.

Meridia is happy to partner with EFP Engineering in the recruitment of an experienced Electrical Engineer or Technologist to join their growing team in Halifax's beautiful North End.

Role Description

The Electrical Engineer or Technologist will provide electrical design services for multi-residential construction projects, as well as commercial and industrial projects. Your responsibilities will encompass both conceptual and detailed design engineering, as well as the preparation of drawings and construction specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate designs for reliable, cost-effective, and efficient operation.
  • In collaboration with the team, produce electrical (power, communications, lighting, fire alarm) construction drawings and specifications to support project execution.
  • Attend project meetings and construction site visits.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with clients.
  • Assist engineers and other personnel with general duties, such as calculations, quantity take-offs, plotting, scanning, etc.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, tracking essential tasks, hours, and critical data points to ensure timely project completion.

Your Qualifications

You are an experienced electrical engineer or technologist with a relevant educational background. You have a deep understanding in the design of commercial and residential buildings or equivalent knowledge developed from previous experience or education. You possess a high proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, or other Building Information Modeling software. The ideal candidate must be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Your qualifications include:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Current registration or the ability to register with Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • A Senior Certified Engineering Technologist with equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • A working knowledge of architectural and electrical building systems, including national building and electrical codes. Familiarity with fire alarm systems and power generation is an asset.
  • Experience in project management is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of working independently on assignments with minimal supervision, while also engaging others as needed to overcome obstacles.
