Job Title: Policy Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our Engagement and Consultation Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation of the Engagement and Consultation process, in accordance with the MMF's Resolution No. 8, for all matters that may impact the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and analyze political/policy related matters regarding projects, initiatives, agreements, or applicable documents;
  • Draft briefings, letters, proposals, and reports to inform and engage stakeholders;
  • Facilitate engagement/consultation related matters with Proponents/Governments and others;
  • Liaise with MMF Departments, Affiliates, and Regions, interacting with subject matter experts, leadership, and Citizens;
  • Build and maintain relationships with Proponents/Governments while advocating for the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis;
  • Attend meetings and maintain internal engagement and consultation records;
  • Plan, attend, and present information at community meetings.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in communications, indigenous studies, social or environmental sciences, natural resources management, or other related discipline;
  • Experience in policy and program development;
  • Experience working with leadership in a corporate or governmental setting;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365;
  • Experience with budgets, financial tracking, and reporting;
  • Excellent public speaking, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Bilingual an asset;
  • Knowledge of the MMF's Resolution No. 8 process is preferred;
  • Knowledge of consultation and engagement processes is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Métis culture and MMF programs and services is a definite asset;
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
