Job Title: Policy Analyst

The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our Engagement and Consultation Department. As a Policy Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of policies that promote the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and analysis on policy-related matters to inform decision-making and policy development;
  • Draft and edit policy briefs, reports, and other documents to communicate complex information to stakeholders;
  • Facilitate engagement and consultation with Proponents, Governments, and other stakeholders to ensure that the MMF's interests are represented;
  • Liaise with MMF departments, affiliates, and regions to build relationships and gather information to inform policy decisions;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Proponents and Governments to advocate for the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis;
  • Attend meetings and maintain internal records of engagement and consultation activities;
  • Plan and present information at community meetings to engage with stakeholders and build support for MMF policies.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in communications, indigenous studies, social or environmental sciences, natural resources management, or other related discipline;
  • Experience in policy and program development, preferably in a government or corporate setting;
  • Excellent public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and other software applications relevant to the role;
  • Ability to travel and possess a valid Manitoba driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Bilingualism is an asset, and knowledge of the MMF's Resolution No. 8 process and consultation and engagement processes is preferred.
