Job Title: Policy Analyst

Job Summary:

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our Engagement and Consultation Department. As a Policy Analyst, you will be responsible for researching, informing, and reporting on political and policy-related matters that impact the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze policy-related matters, providing recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Proponents, Governments, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate engagement and consultation processes, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Liaise with MMF departments, affiliates, and regions, interacting with subject matter experts, leadership, and citizens.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Proponents, Governments, and other stakeholders, advocating for the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis.
  • Attend meetings and maintain internal engagement and consultation records.
  • Plan, attend, and present information at community meetings.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in communications, indigenous studies, social or environmental sciences, natural resources management, or other related disciplines.
  • Experience in policy and program development, with a focus on indigenous rights and interests.
  • Excellent public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience with budgets, financial tracking, and reporting.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the MMF's Resolution No. 8 process is preferred.
  • Knowledge of consultation and engagement processes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Métis culture and MMF programs and services is a definite asset.
