Job Summary:

Ottawa Public Library (OPL) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Library Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our community, you will be responsible for providing exceptional public service duties, including readers advisory and reference services, programming and user education activities, and collection development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide readers advisory and reference services to library users, including answering queries, advising on material selection, and assisting with catalogue and other tools.
  • Develop and implement programming and user education activities to meet the needs of diverse communities.
  • Conduct tours and group visits to promote library services and resources.
  • Carry out collection development duties, including recommending items for retention, disposal, or replacement, and making recommendations for purchase to fill gaps in the collection.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Library and/or Information Science from an accredited library school.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively increased responsibilities in public service and staff supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
