Aquatic Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Aquatic Safety Specialist to join our team at Branksome Hall. As an Aquatic Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all students and patrons using our swimming pools.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional swimming lessons to various age groups following established curriculum.
  • Maintain direct contact with swimmers and communicate with them in an effective manner.
  • Perform the very important task of being a first responder in case of an emergency and providing First Aid as needed throughout the pool and change room areas.
  • Monitor designated pool areas and responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the pool deck area, change rooms and shower areas.
  • Conduct facility inspections, complete opening and closing checklists, daily scheduled chemical tests and advise supervisor of any concerns found.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including swim report card writing, attendance, level progression, etc.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of age as per the provincial standard.
  • Hold current National Lifeguard - Pool Option, Standard First Aid & CPR C and Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor.
  • Possess sound knowledge of the rules and regulation governing safety in an indoor pool facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of service situations in a busy aquatic facility.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve effectively, work independently with minimal supervision.
