Job Title: Faculty, Wildlife and Environmental Science
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced instructor to teach in the School of Environment and Geomatics at Selkirk College. The successful applicant will have a strong background in wildlife ecology and environmental science, with the ability to provide instruction in a variety of courses.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver in-person courses on wildlife ecology and management, including field and classroom labs.
- Provide instruction to students and ensure effective safety procedures are applied.
- Develop and deliver teaching strategies and assessments that meet course outcomes.
- Evaluate students and provide constructive feedback.
- Contribute to the college and school, including participating in meetings and developing curriculum.
- Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and engage in professional development activities.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Experience with standard wildlife sampling techniques, ecology of wildlife species, and safety standards.
- Sound understanding of fundamentals of ecology and wildlife management.
- Demonstrated ability to teach in-person courses and work with students with diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, excellent classroom management skills, and ability to contribute to school initiatives.
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in Wildlife Ecology or related field.
- Two to three years teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
- Industry wildlife experience is desired, and experience working with indigenous communities is preferred.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range is $2, $4,341.23 bi-weekly, based on qualifications and experience. Benefits are in accordance with the Selkirk College Faculty Association Collective Agreement.
